Weekly Newsletter: Passenger Rail in Las Vegas
The proposed high speed line in Las Vegas has gained momentum.
This past week, XpressWest, a private company that has been working on this route since 2007, formed a partnership with China Railway International U.S.A. This is China’s first high-speed railway project in the U.S., a market they have continued to have expressed interest.
The 230-mile high-speed line would have stations in Las Vegas, Victorville, Palmdale, where it would connect to California high-speed rail.
The Palmdale connection means XpressWest will feed a large number of passengers to LA and San Francisco. This project should be seen as not only a boon to the Las Vegas area but a vital component of the California High Speed Rail project.
Officials are hopeful that construction could start as soon as next September. We are excited by the news and will be waiting eagerly to share any updates with you.
