The ultra-high speed ground transportation effort for the Pacific Northwest is entering its next phase. It aims to connect Seattle in one hour to both Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, British Columbia. Earlier this year, the Washington State Legislature approved $150 million as federal match for the project.

This two-state, two-country project is studying the potential to use high-speed rail or other technologies with a vision to build stronger and more equitable transportation, economic, and community connections. We’ll hear about the project’s progress, engagement process with stakeholders, as well as getting a preview of the way forward.

Our speakers were Jason Beloso, Strategic Planning Manager with WSDOT’s Rail, Freight, and Ports Division, and Adam Leuin, the Division’s Transportation Planner.
