A message from Alliance member Emily Taylor
What if your transportation fit your life, instead of the other way around? It's time for high-speed rail!
2020 will be a pivotal year for high-speed rail. To make sure we're ready, we've challenged ourselves to raising $60,000 by the end of the year.
Can you help us reach this goal – and do big things in 2020 – by making a donation now?
(We've reached 20% of that $60,000 goal. Thank you!)
Don't forget: High Speed Rail Alliance board members Beth Coulson and Stan Miller have generously agreed to donate an extra $2,000, but only if we get 50 donations this week!
So far we have 25 of the of 50 donations we need by Dec. 23 to unlock this $2,000 challenge grant. Thank you to everyone who has contributed!
Why support the High Speed Rail Alliance? Here's a message from Alliance member Emily Taylor, Principal at teenyBIG:
I believe in the power of transportation diversity – whether it be by bike, car, airplane, or train – we need transportation networks that fit into our lives and create a minimal impact on our environment.High-speed rail fits a need for convenient, mid-distance travel like no other. It is faster than driving or conventional rail, it’s less cumbersome than flying, and more energy-efficient than both. As automobiles use up over 142 billion gallons of gas per year and U.S. airlines almost 18 billion gallons of fuel, we need fuel-efficient options like high-speed, electric train travel to reduce our dependence on oil and decrease harmful emissions.
I have seen the ease of high-speed rail in Europe - stepping on a train with minimal hassle, watching the scenery roll by, and arriving smoothly to my destination in about the same amount of time as taking a flight. I think about how much easier it would have been for me to travel to school, meet clients face to face, or visit family if we had high-speed rail in this country.
Without organizations like High Speed Rail Alliance, high-speed rail will not happen in the U.S. 2020 will be a pivotal year for funding keystone high-speed rail projects and we need them to make sure high-speed rail has an advocate at the table. They need your support to maintain the momentum of projects like the California Central Valley project, the Texas Central Railway, and others in the early stages of planning. Show our elected officials there is public support for high-speed rail in the U.S. by supporting High Speed Rail Alliance before 2019 is over.
