Tell Springfield to Create an Integrated Railway Program
Want modern Metra trains? World-class high-speed trains? Better transit?
Please send an email to your Representative and Senator asking them to create an integrated railway program with consistent funding to expand existing routes and build new ones.
We have provide a sample letter, but it would be best if you make it your own. Please tell them where you want to take the train and why.
The new program should fund:
- Planning capacity, expertise and resources to develop new routes
- Capital improvements and high-performance trains
- Operations and maintenance
- Crucial design and engineering work for high-speed and regional rail on nine corridors
- An intercity bus program within IDOT’s Bureau of Railroads to support and complement the rail network
Illinois should be the national leader in passenger rail innovation.
