Brightline Announces Funding Plan for Tampa Extension
Brightline plans to issue as much as $400 million of private-activity bonds to help fund its planned extension from Orlando to Tampa. This extension to Tampa would be an 85-mile dedicated passenger rail line where trains could operate up to 125 mph, connecting Orlando to Tampa in about an hour.

California High-Speed Rail Confirms Plans to Bridge Funding Gap
After the U.S. Department of Transportation notified the California High-Speed Rail Authority that it intends to claw back $4 billion in federal funds, the Authority has been looking for other funding sources.
Earlier this month at the American Public Transportation Association Conference in San Francisco, the Authority’s CEO Ian Choudri confirmed that the current plan was increased state funding mixed with private equity to invest in the project. In addition, he confirmed that there was no chance that the state would simply stop the project at this point.
