DOJ Sues Norfolk Southern Over Amtrak Delays

The U.S. Justice Department has filed a civil complaint, alleging that Norfolk Southern has failed to give Amtrak’s Crescent train preference over freight trains, as required by law. Amtrak has had this priority over freight trains since 1973, but has been reliant on the DOJ to enforce this law. This is the first case the DOJ has brought to court regarding this issue since 1979.
