Share your story. Build momentum for great trains!

A shot of a family of four sitting around a table on a train during a journey from Newcastle to Edinburgh. They are all laughing together, dressed in casual clothing and it is summertime. On the table there are various plastic containers of food, a mobile phone, and the two adults have paper coffee cups.

The case for trains usually comes down to economic and environmental arguments. And those are important! But in the end, it’s all about people—making our lives better, our families stronger, and our communities more connected.

Will you help build a stronger case for great trains by sharing your story?

Maybe a train allowed you to attend a distant college. Maybe you took a train to visit relatives when you were a kid. Maybe it’s how you visit friends and family now—or would, if there were quality train options.

Maybe you met a friend on a train, years ago, and you’ve stayed in touch ever since. Maybe you had a memorable conversation on a train and it’s always stayed with you.

Whatever your story about trains—and whatever your reason for wanting better trains—we’d love to hear it

We aim to build support and momentum for quality trains by sharing stories of how they make life better. Through big adventures, sure. But also by creating connectivity in the routine, everyday sense.

It won’t change the world overnight. But one story at a time, we’ll build a stronger movement for quality trains and transformative change.

We’ll publish some of the stories on our blog and social media channels—with your permission!—over the next few months.

How does it work? It’s this simple:

  1. Think of a true, train-related story. It should describe your own experience on (or involving) a train and/or how your life would be better if there were a train. We’ll make an exception in certain cases—a family story passed down through generations, for example.
  2. Write up your story. Please keep it to less 1,000 words—and it can be much shorter. The key isn’t the length but that it’s meaningful to you. (If you have a picture to go along with it, great!)
  3. Send your story to us using the form below or email [email protected]. Be sure to include your contact information. We’ll choose a few of our favorites and reach out to the authors. When we have a green light, we’ll publish the stories occasionally on our blog.
  4. Tell your friends and family about the Alliance and ask them to share their own stories.

Trains and stories. They’re both about connecting people. So what’s better than stories about trains?

Not much!
