Action Alert: Rockford and the Quad Cities Passenger Rail

The new train station in Moline, IL

Ask Governor Pritzker to make trains to Rockford and the Quad Cities a reality.

Please ask Governor Pritzker to make trains to Rockford and the Quad Cities a reality.

The return of service to these routes has been promised for more than a decade. The funding is there, but we need the governor to take action to get construction underway.

On the Quad Cities route, negotiations between the Iowa Interstate Railroad and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) seem to be at an impasse. We are asking the governor to direct IDOT to engage Amtrak to negotiate with the railroad and take action at the Surface Transportation Board, if needed.

On the Rockford route, a decision needs to be made regarding whether Amtrak or Metra will operate the trains. We are asking the governor to direct IDOT to announce that decision quickly and move forward with final engineering work.

Moving forward with these projects is critical to improving passenger rail throughout the state and the region. You can play a role in moving both of these projects towards construction by contacting the governor today.

Take Action
