You’re not alone.

More people like you are realizing how incredible train travel can be.

Amtrak has broken all-time ridership and revenue records for the past two consecutive years.

But for generations, U.S. transportation policy has focused on moving cars, not people. As a result, America’s railways have fallen behind.

You can help change all of this with one signature.

On the table there are various plastic containers of food, a mobile phone, and the two adults have paper coffee cups.
Caltrain recently replaced diesel trains with electric, cutting 25 minutes from the trip time.

We can have great trains!

Caltrain in the Silicon Valley and the high-traffic Northeast Corridor have shown just how great American trains can be—and that people want to ride them.

High-speed rail, combined with an integrated network of frequent regional trains, is possible. And its development should be a national priority.

A bottom-up movement for top-down planning

The High Speed Rail Alliance is a member-powered nonprofit working to connect the nation with great trains.

By signing our petition, you support one of our core goals: the establishment of a national passenger rail program.

We’ve done it before with the Interstate Highway System.

Tell Congress: It’s time to build high-speed rail!

Dear Members of Congress,

Please work with your colleagues to develop a federally driven passenger rail program.

I want to be able to take the train. But for generations, U.S. transportation policy has prioritized moving cars, rather than moving people. As a result, most Americans are forced to drive.

We can do so much better—and we need to get to work to fix this now.

I urge you to create a legitimate, top-down passenger rail expansion program, similar in scope and magnitude to the legislation that gave us the Interstate Highway System.

Imagine a truly integrated transportation network, with high-speed rail serving major American cities and modernized conventional rail branching out into surrounding regions.

Great train systems improve social, economic, and physical mobility.

They generate commercial activity, strengthen talent acquisition, and allow households to spend less of their income on car ownership and invest more into their own wealth.

They make it easier for people to spend time with friends and family, regardless of age or ability, making day-to-day life more enjoyable and fulfilling for everyone.

They also protect our environment by reducing carbon emissions and driving more efficient land use.

It’s time to expand freedom, strengthen our communities, and protect our planet’s future by committing to fast, frequent, and affordable trains throughout the country.

Let’s build something great.

Let’s change the way America moves.
