U.S Transportation Secretary Buttigieg Celebrates High-Speed Rail Progress

Our high-speed rail future is underway. Once completed, the Brightline West project will cut travel time between Las Vegas, NV, and Rancho Cucamonga, CA in half, to just over 2 hours on new high-speed rail versus by car.

Illinois Needs Connecting Buses

Illinois has scores of valuable assets widely scattered across the state—major employers, tourism sites, popular parks, and colleges and universities. Making them more accessible is critical to the state’s health. Better intercity bus service is the best way to connect and strengthen the rail corridors that span the state. Buses can coordinate with trains to reach further and quickly match demand that is distributed throughout Illinois.

Stuart Residents Rally for Train Service

Earlier this year, after a competitive selection process, Brightline selected Stuart, FL as the location for a new station in the Treasure Coast. In September, city leaders in Stuart voted to cancel the lease agreement with Brightline.

In response, Stuart residents rallied outside Stuart City Hall in support of the new station, and local business leaders have vocalized their support for the project.

The city commission has responded by re-starting negotiations with Brightline and Martin County.
